Back to the Future

If you watch a lot of sci-fi films or TV shows you probably noticed the Greco-Roman influence in many of them, certain when it comes to their costumes. Is this simply due to lazy costume designers or what exactly about these Greco-Roman clothes inspire so much of the FUTURE?!?!

THINGS TO COME

FORBIDDEN PLANET

QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE

LOGAN'S RUN

STARCRASH

SPACE:1999

On that note I'd like to mention the passing of Gerry Anderson, creator of SPACE:1999, among many other non-PEPLUM shows which I grew up watching and enjoyed immensely.

Gerry Anderson, RIP

There were a lot of them, and one you didn't mention was THE MOLE PEOPLE which has the costumes and a very PEP dance number. I think that this 1956 movie was an inspiration for MOLE MEN AGAINST SON OF HERCULES.

I've never seen The Mole People.

This movie starred John Agar as an archeologist who with others are searching for clues to the Sumerian civilization in Asia. It's not bad of a story which has a Professor from USC to do the prelude to movie. Typical 50's SCI-FI Lost City beneath the surface with Albino people and of course the Mole Monsters. Lots of Fun!!
