Jack Palance and Virginia Mayo in THE SILVER CHALICE

Virginia hated working with Jack:

"I must say Jack Palance was a drag. We were together in "The Silver Chalice." The way he did his work was strange. He was a weird actor and I didn't like working with him at all."

Jack Palance was a much better known actor then Virginia Mayo, she was a beautiful woman, but she was not a great actress(that's my opinion). Jack was very well known for many of his roles and one thing about him was he liked to play the bad guy roles more than any other. He made a ton more movies then she did. Hard for me to pick a favorite role he had a lot of good ones.

This is an odd, odd movie. Didn't Paul Newman bad-mouth this film right after its release? That's how strongly he felt about how bad the film was, and the bizarre eyebrows on Mayo rival those of Paulette Goddard (as Lucretia Borgia) in "Bride of Vengence". This film didn't kill Virginia's career but it sure as hell didn't help it any.

IMDB: Paul Newman took out ads in the Hollywood trade papers apologizing for his performance in this film.

He did this when the film was going to be broadcast on TV for the first time
