I feel like "Masters of the Universe" will have a tone similar to the old peplums and with He-Man looking like the old peplums instead of today's overly muscular, fake-looking bodybuilders and instead of the grim feel of most movies today.

Yes. It's basically a PEPLUM Sci-fi. There's quite a few of them.
