OK I finally got it, I had to rephrase it in my mind as:
"One aspect that works about Cleopatra avoid at all cost..."

All of the movies on Cleopatra are based more on the Shakespeare plays than on historical reality - it makes for better movies. She really did not understand Rome or Roman politics and key events in the conflict between Octavian and Anthony that didn't involve her [eg. the Armies' refusal to fight each other in 40 BC, Anthony's later defeat against the Parthians] are ignored
