By the Gods!

Pierre Cressoy in FRINE - COURTESAN OF THE ORIENT (1953)

Nudity in movies was censored back in the past. But filmmakers used statues to convey any sense of nudity and get away with it. This scene from FRINE perfectly demonstrates this aspect. Ironically, there is brief female nudity during a scene with slaves being auctioned off (below) in the same film.

You can view other such scenes at the Wardrobe Malfunctions permanent page.

Unfortunately I have never been able to watch FRINE.

Probably it is out of copyright. This means there is no financial incentive for anyone to make it available.

SLAVE GIRL (1947) starring Yvonne de Carlo is also out of copyright. The only version available is a truly terrible Spanish DVD. It is virtually unwatchable.
