Matte paintings from HEROD THE GREAT (1959)
I watched this recently. Such a great production. Directed by the brilliant Viktor Tourjansky. The movie has an amazing sense of space, framing, etc. And these matte paintings show off the above average production. The one below is great. I watched the original Italian version and noticed the scenes that didn't make it in the US cut. Some extensive scenes.

It's a terrific and opulent movie. Too bad it has never been given a proper English language release.
