Maciste (Mark Forest) seduces Queen Smedes (Chelo Alonso) in SON OF SAMSON (1960)
This is a good PEPLUM flick with yet another questionable title (Maciste is NOT the son of Samson). It was Chelo's birthday this past Monday. I usually don't celebrate birthdays here at the blog because 1) it would be too time consuming to track the date of births of ALL the actors and directors, and 2) most of them are dead. In this case, both Mark and Chelo are still with us. She's 84 years old. Happy belated birthday, Chelo!

I am delighted that Chelo has made it to 84. Hopefully she is in as good shape as possible. She was certainly the "queen of the dance" in Peplum films.
As this website has noted ("Tragic Stars"), some female Peplum stars died at relatively young ages. Examples you have listed include Soledad Miranda, Maria Montez, Bella Darvi, Michele Girardon, and Belinda Lee.
A couple of these cases were suicides. Dorian Gray was also a suicide,but in old age.
