The film is well made (beautiful costumes and sets, etc) and it's solid entertainment but it's a mostly studio bound effort. Until the end with this duel. The film needed more of scenes like this to be more memorable. This was Gianna Maria Canale's last film.

I saw this film the other day for the first time. It was visually very beautiful and quite entertaining. I agree with the points you make. Because I generally like my peplums slow paced this made the final duel all the more impressive and had a great impact with me. I'm not sure if you cover this film anywhere else on the blog.
