Vintage advertising

A huge billboard advertising QUO VADIS in production in 1949, 2 years before its release. Now that's early.

Great photo! I love the late 1940s cars.

On the side of Loew's State Theatre, 1540 Broadway, New York City.

A wealth of other interesting details to explore. I can see that at the time Loew's State Theatre was showing The Barkleys of Broadway (1949). Next to it is the Bond Clothing Store with its two giant statues. The Strand Theatre on the right was showing Night Unto Night (1949) starring Reagan - Lindfors, plus on stage, The Hour of Charm Orchestra led by Phil Spitalny.

If you click on the main image, you can also barely make out a partially hidden white sign for Call It Murder (1949) which was a re-release of Midnight (1934) with Humphrey Bogart now given top billing. (Look under the green traffic light, behind the No U Turn sign.)
