By the Gods!

Serge Nubret and Gordon Scott in GOLIATH & THE REBEL SLAVE

I have a Spanish version, a German version, a French version, a US version and none of them are the same. It's very confusing. I want to do a Fan Dub of this but there are simply too many scenes missing (up to 20 minutes!). Remarkably enough, the most complete version is the US one but the aspect ration is a standard 4:3, not widescreen. I refuse to do a Fan Dub until I get a a relatively uncut copy in widescreen before doing a FD. As for the stars, Nubrej and Scott, they should have made more films together. Good team up.

I have a German DVD of this and it is 1.85 aspect ratio instead of the correct 2.35. It runs 77 minutes.
I have seen a Spanish DVD for sale and the box says it is 2.35 ratio and 76 minutes. Is the picture quality on the Spanish DVD as good as the German one?

The German and Spanish versions are basically the same, at 76 minutes. Only the aspect ratios are different. The Spanish version is a bit more widescreen. I wouldn't call either one of them 2.35 ratio though.

The French version I have is 81 minutes and it's the closest to true widescreen.

The US version is 104 minutes but with a 4:3 ratio.

What's a "fan dub"?

Hi Matt

A Fan Dub is taking the high quality film copy from Europe and adding and re-editing the English dub track to it. Most of these films don't have acceptable copies in English so I take the English track from the poor US copy and add it to the video from Europe. I basically make a new English copy this way. I've made plenty of them.
