By the Gods!

Gordon Scott, as Marcus Lucilius, is surrounded by his gladiator buddies (and his sidekick) in GLADIATOR OF ROME

This is the first PEPLUM with the storyline of several gladiators forming a rebellious group. There were dozens of them after this. Not the greatest PEPLUM film by any means but fun to watch nonetheless. The gladiators are Raf Baldassarre, Nello Pazzafini and Harold Bradley. The Annoying Sidekick, on the left, is Pietro de Vico. I've already written a comprehensive overview of this film.

The best thing in this uneven film is Gianna Marie Canale doing a first class job in her usual role as the villainess.

I agree fully that sidekicks are just about always a mistake.

Sorry, I was wrong about the name of the actress who played Prisca.

It was Eleonora Vargas, not Gianna Maria Canale. Vargas did an excellent job depicting a Patrician villainess, and she looks a lot like Gianna.
