Grooming in Antiquity

Guy Madison watches Giacomo Rossi-Stuart shave in SLAVE OF ROME

When I watch PEPLUM films and see all the clean shaven men I always wonder how do the men keep such perfectly groomed appearances on a daily basis. The scene in SLAVE OF ROME above sorta shows how it must have been done, with a knife, some reflective metal and nothing else. But when you look at it I guess things haven't changed much from thousands of years ago.

Edmund Purdom gets his beard shaved off which is important to the storyline

THE ADVENTURES OF HAJJI BABA starts in a barbershop shop/spa for men
