Before they were PEPLUM stars : Ed Fury in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES

Ed Fury made many appearances in Hollywood films before going to Italy and star in several classic PEPLUM productions. Here's Ed in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES. I knew he was in this (Steve Reeves is supposed to be in this as well but I can't find him) and had tried to find him before but could never find him well that's because they dyed his customary blonde hair a dark shade (thanks to Facebook friend PEPLUM ETERNITY for this revelation) and voila now I can spot him. Ed is immortalized as the fellow Jane Russell runs her hand in his hair at the song's climax. He's also the fellow who jumps in the water in front of Jane at one point. Cool.

Apart from the magnificence that is Jane herself, the star of that scene is the amazingly beautiful (though vacant) "Honey, you'll hurt yourself" guy.

The bit where Jane got knocked into the water was supposedly an accident that got kept in the final film.

Well spotted, Peplum! Ed also makes an appearance and I think he even says "hello" in the Joan Crawford epic "Female on the Beach" in 1955 when the elderly pimps introduce their latest guy Ed to rich widow Joan (who is resisting their Jeff Chandler). Ed looks good here, I wonder if Joan invited him over for a vodka and coke afterwards ...

GPM, that hunk's name is John Weidemann. He was a physique model in the 1950s. There are many photos on the internet of him in the nude.

Michael, yes, Ed was in FEMALE ON THE BEACH...he appeared in a lot of cameo bits in films from the 1950s before getting lead roles in Italian PEPLUM films.

Not that I would go looking for them . . .

It's interesting that John Weidemann's not listed in the IMDB cast list, at least under that name, while Noel Neill (who was probably on-screen for about two seconds in the party scene on the boat) and lots of others who made no impression at all are.

I provided the info on Weidemann for anyone who's interested in him...yes, he's not credited for anything at IMDb. That site is so incomplete.
